1. What is Research ILD?

Research ILD is a not-for-profit research and educational organization dedicated to discovering the pathways to success for all learners. We develop, evaluate, and promote strategies for successful learning and effective teaching through research, program development, dissemination of instructional materials, professional development, and scholarship support for educational services.

2. Who makes up Research ILD?

Research ILD is lead under the direction of its President, Dr. Bethany Roditi and its Executive Director, Dr. Lynn Meltzer. There is also a Board of Directors that oversees the responsibilities of Research ILD. Currently, the board is chaired by J. Scott Barrie. Other board members include: Lynne Miller, Steven Beckhardt, Rudolph Lantelme, David Ellis, Melvin Kutchin, Tom Jones, Martha Gavin and senior advisor Mark Tomizawa.

3. What is the mission of Research ILD?

Research ILD is dedicated to empowering students to “learn how to learn”. Our goal is to improve the lives of children, adolescents and adults with learning and attention differences. At Research ILD we develop and disseminate research-based educational strategies to create pathways to success for ALL learners. We accomplish this by conducting cutting-edge research and developing instructional tools that can be used at home and in school.

4. How are ILD and Research ILD connected?

ILD and Research ILD are two independent sister organizations. ILD is the clinical arm of the sisterhood whereas Research ILD is the research side.

5. Does Research ILD offer scholarship assistance?

6. Does Research ILD offer teacher training conferences and community events?

Our Annual Learning Differences Conference, co-sponsored by the Harvard Graduate School of Education and Research ILD, held in November of each year has become one of the most prestigious conferences in the field. In the spring, we hold our Annual Forum on Learning Differences, which is a venue for parents, teachers and individuals who want to learn more about learning and attention differences, strategies, and advancements in the field. In addition, staff members from ILD/Research ILD conduct workshops to train teachers and other professionals in our assessment approaches and strategies.
