Brain Cogs at Home

Brain Cogs at Home is the home version of the award-winning Brain Cogs CD-ROM, designed to help all children figure out personalized learning strategies to use before, during, and after tests. Brain Cogs is an interactive, media-rich, animated, musical instructional tool that helps every learner fine-tune five cognitive processes needed throughout life:

• Remembering
• Organizing
• Prioritizing
• Shifting
• Checking

Guided by five humorous and entertaining members of a fictional rock band, the Rotten Green Peppers, each child takes an imaginative journey, all the while charting their own personal progress in developing better learning, studying and test-taking strategies. Children learn thirteen strategies which help them to develop a context for remembering information on a long-term basis and for approaching the learning situation more efficiently.

Additional funding will allow Research ILD staff to complete a parent-friendly booklet that helps parents to help their children use Brain Cogs so that they can constructively handle the stress and anxiety associated with homework and studying for tests.
