SMARTS is CHADD’S Innovative Program of the Year!

Updated: May 17, 2019

We are excited to announce that SMARTS has been named the 2018 Innovative Program of the Year by CHADD, a national advocacy organization for Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder.

CHADD does terrific work on behalf of people with ADHD, and we are thrilled to be acknowledged by them. According to Dr. Mark Katz, Innovative Programs Editor for Attention Magazine, this award is chosen yearly by members of CHADD’s Conference Planning Committee.

Lynn Meltzer, President and Founder of the Institutes of Learning and Development and the author of Executive Function in Education: From Theory to Practice and Promoting Executive Function in the Classroom, who will receive the award, released a statement of thanks, saying that, “The teaching of explicit executive function strategies through SMARTS is the key to academic success for all students but especially for those students with learning and attention differences, such as ADHD and dyslexia.”

Previous recipients include Stanford University Psychology Professor Dr. Carol Dweck and Mindset Works, CEO Eduardo Briceno for Brainology (Eduardo will be a keynote speaker at the CHADD Conference this year), University of Oregon Professor Dr. Hill Walker for First Step to Success, University of California Clinical Professor of Pediatrics Dr. Ron Kotkin for the Irvine Paraprofessional Program, and David Flink for Eye to Eye, a national mentoring movement run by and for people with learning and attention differences.

The award will be presented in St. Louis this November during the 2018 Annual International Conference on ADHD, where Dr.  Meltzer will present on executive function, metacognition, and resilience. Come to St. Louis and celebrate with us!
